Crest Whitestrips Review
One of the best known and top selling teeth whitening products for many years, Crest whitestrips used be freely available in high street shops such as Boots, Superdrug and many supermarkets. These days, for legal reasons their availability is more limited to online stockists.
What Are Crest Whitestrips And How Do They Work
Crest Whitestrips are lengths of adhesive tape impregnated with a peroxide based whitening gel, they are simply stuck onto the front teeth and left there for a period of time to allow the whitening gel to bleach the teeth and remove staining.
Issues With Crest Whitestrips
The concept of these is simple, but they do have their problems:
- They are rather thin and easy to tear
- Difficult to handle
- They only cover the front 6 teeth at best
- Difficult to keep on the teeth, saliva making them slip
- Known to cause irritation when coming into contact with gums or lips
General reports show that around 50% of all users find the strips difficult to keep on the teeth, also various forms of discomfort including sensitivity and even blisters on gums and lips have been reported after using crest whitestrips.
The Gel impregnated into the strips is of a high strength, which is well known to cause users problems such as sensitivity. This can sometimes be reduced by using a de-sensitizing toothpaste, but if the problem continues it’s probably best to avoid these strips and choose a tray method of application.
The tray method is commonly used in dental surgeries and offers a far more reliable method of teeth whitening.
Where Can I Buy Crest Whitestrips
Crest Whitestrips have recently been banned in many countries due to side effects and concerns caused by the high strength gels used in the strips. There are some online outlets that still currently sell these strips, but we cannot confirm their legality.
